About Me
Julia W. S. Slatkin, Ph.D.
Welcome to my practice! I’m a licensed clinical psychologist with over 10 years of professional experience providing therapy and psychological assessments to individuals and families. I specialize in providing therapy for tweens, teens, and young adults, and offer both clinical and court-involved evaluation services.
I began my career as a postdoctoral fellow in the Child and Family Therapy Clinic at the Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins University, where I provided individual and family therapy and neuropsychological assessments for a wide range of mental health concerns. I continued my training with a second postdoctoral fellowship in child and family forensic psychology at William James College, where I conducted forensic evaluations (primarily child custody evaluations and psychological evaluations) for the court system. I now offer psychological evaluations for parents and/or children involved in custody and family court proceedings as part of my private practice.
Following my postgraduate training, I worked for over five years in the Massachusetts public school system, where I provided therapy, conducted comprehensive psychological assessments, and participated in IEP team meetings to support students’ academic and emotional needs.
I opened my private practice in 2019, where I frequently work with tween and teen girls and young adult women. My passion for this work is deeply personal, rooted in memories of my own adolescent years. These experiences help me connect with the emotional ups and downs of growing up and inform my commitment to creating a warm, safe space where clients can reflect, express themselves openly, and feel truly understood.
In addition to therapy, I offer thoughtful and comprehensive neuropsychological assessments to support diagnostic clarity and help families access appropriate services, accommodations, and treatment. I also conduct virtual psychological evaluations (primarily for autism spectrum disorder) for toddlers and young children through Pariva Health. This work focuses on improving access to early diagnostic services for under-resourced families who may face barriers to in-person care.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my family and our beloved pets (including a dachshund, golden retriever, and two cats). I love traveling to new places but also take great pleasure in cozying up at home and watching TV or reading a good book. Designing and entertaining are hobbies of mine, and I love finding excuses to redecorate and create themed snack boards!
